It’s a good thing that after 30 years, Cavin and I still enjoy being together. What began as the two of us, turned into three when our son John Robert was born\u2026 along came our daughter Christian four years later, and a few years after that Preston completed our family of five\u2026. Yet, now all too often, we are back to “Cawthon, party of two!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love our life, even though I would be lying if I said there aren’t times when I miss all the chaos of kids and family and messes and school projects and sporting events and birthday parties and packing lunches and all the craziness that comes with being a parent and raising kids. When you are going through those hard days, you don’t think that you will ever miss them\u2026. but you will\u2026 and I do!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before there was a family of five, there was a young couple who fell in love\u2026 There was a young couple whose hearts were filled with excitement and dreams of the future. Many of those dreams have been fulfilled and we are blessed to have three almost-grown children who are self-sufficient – at least for all practical purposes. But I like to think that maybe they still need us\u2026 just a little!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cavin and I didn’t stay too long on the beach. We had other things to do…. yeah… that’s it! We headed on down the beach on Highway 98 to Destin which was about a 30-minute drive. Cavin was in charge of selecting our Sampling the South<\/strong> restaurant for the day and he chose Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House<\/a>. We have both heard great things about this restaurant and it was time to find out firsthand if the rumors were true!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the building where Boshamps<\/a> is located, the owner’s parents previously owned a restaurant known as The Flamingo Cafe. After almost 30 years of being one of Destin’s finest restaurants, they stripped the white table cloths and changed the dining concept to a very casual and comfortable atmosphere which is typical of vacationers and locals alike. They encourage guests to enjoy the fine dining of Boshamps<\/a>, but in a very relaxed atmosphere on Destin Harbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We arrived at 3 pm for a very late lunch. It turns out this was the perfect time to arrive to avoid what can be up to a two-hour wait for dinner. We added our names to the list and in just a few minutes, we heard\u2026 “Cawthon, party of two!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boshamps<\/a> has indoor and outdoor dining. Since there was a wait for outdoor dining, we chose the next best thing\u2026 indoor dining next to the window. It was the perfect place to stay cool and enjoy the scenic view of Destin Harbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cavin and I reviewed the menu. He chose the shrimp basket with fries and coleslaw and I selected the shrimp po’boy with fries. As we waited, we talked about the kids and of course texted all three of them to let them know what they were missing out on!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
